1. Gina is looking to see if anyone out there that can help her find her stolen car or tell her how to go about getting a VIN for her 1972 Red Cardinal 455 GTO? It was stolen over 20 years ago. She wishes she would have done this sooner but she was a teen when her car was stolen and life went on but now it's bugging her. Because the theft happened so long ago, records are destroyed and she's hitting road blocks. The insurance was under her father's name but he didn't keep any records as far as she can tell. He passed away years ago and she looked through some papers he saved but didn't find anything. Sec of state doesn't seem to be any help. She has even tried the insurance company that her Dad went through but they don't have records going back to 1983. If anyone knows how to get the vin I would greatly appreciate it. She doesn't know the car dealership but when she bought the car, she bought it from some guy who was selling it himself. He had the car sitting in a parking lot on a main road in Detroit. Being 16 at the time she didn't keep any kind of records. Her dad used to think it was the guy who sold them the car who stole it. They knew you had to turn the base of the steering wheel or the key wouldn't turn and it was very loud because they pushed it down the street and then tried to start it. It used to always stall on the first try. She ran outside in the middle of the night when she heard it start up and watched it drive down the street, heard it drive around the block and watched it come out at the end of the street and turn down a main road. There was an old green and white truck with a cab on it following right behind the GTO and that's the last she saw it. The cops never went after them and couldn't seem to care less. When she called the police station a few years ago they said those records were destroyed. She does remember something not being right with the steering column. She had to turn it at the base or it wouldn't start. It had a kill switch but I could never figure out how that worked or if it was even hooked up to anything. OH and it had what her dad called a slap stick. It was a 3 speed automatic. It had a factory tac and someone added headers to make it really loud and pins in the hood. Obviously she's not over the theft of that car. She paid 2,500. Thanks for any help.
